Moms For Children Association: Protecting Children’s Rights and Health in Custody Proceedings
The Moms For Children Association was founded in response to the current situation in Czech custody proceedings, which traumatize children and ignore their needs. Our goal is to ensure a fair and professional approach that protects children from systemic harm.
Current Situation and Problems in Custody Proceedings
In the Czech Republic, there are serious issues in custody proceedings where children’s rights defined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child are being violated. Children are systematically abused, drawn into traumatic divorce proceedings, and face unprofessional and manipulative actions by the Child Protection Authorities (OSPOD).
Courts and OSPODs often protect their own mistakes instead of the children’s interests, leading to long-term negative consequences on children’s mental and physical health.
Our Mission: Active Change and Reform
The Moms For Children Association aims to:
- re-evaluate decision-making practices in custody cases,
- respect children’s right to a stable and safe environment,
- end the issuance of unprofessional and harmful court decisions,
- inform the public and educate responsible workers.
Our Goals and Actions
We want to open public discussion, reveal institutional failures, and demand:
- transparency and professionalism in court decisions,
- support for mothers and protection of primary caregivers,
- elimination of discrimination and criminalization of mothers in need.

Our Principles of Child Protection
Principle One: Stability and Protection from Trauma
Custody proceedings must not create new trauma. Functional relationships of the child must be protected.
Principle Two: Intervention Only in the Child’s Interest
Interventions must always be beneficial and minimize risks.
Principle Three: The Child’s Well-Being Above All
The child’s interest has absolute priority over the interests of parents, institutions, and society.
“The best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration…” (Convention on the Rights of the Child 104/1991 Coll.)
